Theology on Tap is a safe and fun way to explore the questions we’re all asking. “Is there a god? Where did evil come from? How do we know we’re believing the right thing?”
Starting Next Week!
What if life is more than wealth and reputation? Paul had it all, but found that it all was actually the problem.
For the next 3 weeks, we’ll be walking through the book of Philippians and exploring the Bible’s pathway to joy and meaning.
A New Kind of God
Have you ever heard or thought – God is a loving god? Where did you get that idea? The belief that God is a loving god originated with Jesus and early Christians. In fact Jesus had a lot of new ideas about who God is and what he’s like.
So, who did Jesus say God was?
God is Spirit
Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
God is Father
He said to them, “When you pray, say:
“ ‘Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come.
God is Love
If anyone acknowledges that Jesus is the Son of God, God lives in them and they in God. And so we know and rely on the love God has for us. God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in them.
1 John 4:15-16
3 questions to ask
- Why do you keep your distance from God?
- Where did that view of God originate?
- Was Jesus like that?
